PROSPECTUS AD MONTES PULCHROS
UBI HERBAE SALUTARES CRESCUNT

acrylic paint on wooden panel, 300 x 670 cms., 2004

The commission was to enlighten the view for the employees of the pharmacy of the hospital St. Maarten. Their outlook was about 3 meters overlooking a gray wall. I made a large panel in the shape of an unfolded box with a wide mountainous landscape on it and on the foreground herbs and plants with medical and officinal qualities. The panel is based on packings of cough mixtures and homoeopathic pastilles. For the people in the pharmacy it is an agreeable and natural view, and at the same time a direct reference to their jobs in the pharmacy. As an underline I included all Latin names of the plants and herbs in the painting. It's a direct relation between medical and botanic science.
