CORSO CINEMA
PVC, C-prints, LED, solar panel, 250 x 420 cms.

In the district Klarendal there once was a movie theatre called "Corso Cinema", commonly better known as the "Flea Theatre". During the shows the public cheered at the heroes and hooted at the villains. Besides the many westerns with Roy Rogers or John Wayne, they also played horror pictures like Dracula and comedies with for instance Laurel & Hardy. In 1965 the theatre was demolished to make way for public housing.
After more than 45 years I was commissioned to make a wall object. It became a visible reminder for more than 30 years of movie history; a collage of the heroes and heroines of the white screen. A solar panel lights up the letters at night.
